In 2010 ACHA received a £4000 grant from
Regional Screen Scotland to go towards installing cinema equipment
in the hall. We are able to show DVDs and Blu-rays with full cinema
surround sound. Following the refurbishment, ACHA has started
showing films on a monthly basis.
The licence we use is a MPLC Umbrella®
Licence. This allows us to show films from a large list of producers
and distributors on condition that the name of the film is not
advertised publically and there is no direct charge for viewing the
film.
The next film is on Friday 9th
March.
This time ACHA is showing a
1981 film starring Sean Connery - a science fiction thriller bearing
thematic resemblances to 'High Noon'. In the distant future, a
police marshal stationed at a remote mining colony on the Jupiter
moon of Io uncovers a drug-smuggling conspiracy, and gets no help
from the populace when he later finds himself marked for murder.
